About Me

I have always wanted to be a trend forecaster. As a graduate, I remember being told by a recruitment agent to give up on the dream because there were only 200 jobs in the trend forecasting industry worldwide. After concentrating on fashion design throughout my career, working in New York for American Eagle Outfitters, and in London for Topman, I finally became head of design for a trend forecasting agency called Bureaux in London in 2002.

After three years in this job I decided to set up as a freelance trend consultant, moving back to the North East to be near my family and friends. After seven months of solid pitching, I finally got my first client; Tesco. Over the following five years I helped Tesco identify future trends across fashion, home interiors and even food. In 2007, with such a big client dominating my time, I decided to establish a trend forecasting manual that I could sell to other retailers, and Trend Bible was born.

Having previously worked mainly in fashion forecasting, I identified the home interior sector as being ripe for growth (and the fashion forecasting industry as being over-saturated), and developed home interior forecasting books to respond to this future demand. In the early days, I balanced my seasonal project work with Tesco and the trend books with teaching two days a week at Cleveland College of Art and Design and guest lecturing at several other universities at degree level.

I also studied my PGCE at Northumbria University so that I could continue teaching, until eventually Trend Bible became a viable business that could support me. Trend Bible is a trend forecasting company that helps retailers, brands and manufacturers develop timely and accurate colour and design trends up to two years in advance.
